12/23/2024
Struggling to perfect time management for moms? Been there!!
Let’s be real: being a mom is a full-time job. And building a successful real estate business? That’s a full-time job too. Add them together, and you’ve basically signed up for superhero status minus the cape (because let’s face it, we’re too busy for costume changes 😂).
If you’re like me, you’re constantly switching hats, from mom mode to boss mode—sometimes within minutes. That’s next-level multitasking right there, and believe it or not, those same skills can translate into becoming a rockstar real estate agent and scaling your business!
In this post, I’m going to share some of my best time management tips for real estate moms to help you get started. Because without a plan, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or get stuck in a cycle of putting out fires—I don’t want that for you, mama!
6 Tips for Time Management for Moms
1. Set Your Priorities
You know that old cliche that you can’t hit a target that doesn’t exist? It’s true. Your time as your most valuable currency—you don’t want to spend it on things that don’t matter, right? Especially as a mom who is busy enough already!
The first rule to mastering time management for moms is to start by getting crystal clear on the basics by asking yourself:
- “What’s most important in my business right now?” (Spoiler—lead generation better be near the top!)
- “What’s most important in my personal/family life right now?” (For me, that’s usually family dinners and bedtime cuddles 🥰)
2. The 80/20 Rule of Time Management for Moms
As a mom and a realtor, you’re constantly being pulled in a million directions—school drop-offs, snack-making, open houses, client calls—the list is endless. So I let me fill you in on (or remind you) of the 80/20 rule.
How it works → 80% of your results come from just 20% of your efforts.
Translation? You don’t have to do everything!! You just need to focus on doing the “right” (i.e. most impactful) things.
For moms in real estate, this typically looks like prioritizing lead generation, nurturing relationships, and closing deals.
Pro Tip: Eliminate or delegate things that aren’t central in your business growth or sustainability (like spending an hour creating the perfect Canva graphic or organizing your client folders again 🫢). And don’t forget—things in your personal life can always be delegated to free up some time too (ex. grocery shopping)!
3. Time Blocking
Time blocking is a busy mom’s best-kept secret. Depending on your current school/daycare situation, you might not have a ‘perfect’ timeblocking schedule, but implementing this technique where you can will make a big difference in productivity!
Here’s what this can look like when it comes to time management for moms:
- Lead gen block: Carve out 1-2 hours of uninterrupted time each day to focus solely on prospecting, follow-ups, or nurturing your pipeline. This is the lifeblood of your business, so protect this time like it’s your toddler’s favorite snack!!

- Family time block: Set aside a chunk of time to turn off the phone, close the laptop, and be fully present with your kids—whether it’s helping with homework, playing at the park, or just snuggling on the couch.
4. Eliminate Distractions
Let’s face it—us mamas are queens when it comes to multitasking. Unfortunately, that’s why so much of the advice on time management for moms doesn’t work.
Trying to make client calls while folding laundry while supervising the kiddos? That’s a recipe for frustration and overwhelm.
Pro Tip: Get your kids involved! A cute “Do Not Disturb” sign they make themselves can help them feel part of the process—and remind them to give you space to work.
5. Protecting Your Energy
Listen, time management for moms isn’t just about the clock—it’s also about knowing when and how you work best.
Ask yourself—are you a morning person who would benefit from waking up a little earlier so you can crush more on your to-do list while the kids are still sleeping? Or do you work better after bedtime stories are done?
Plan your high-energy tasks—like lead generation or negotiating deals—during your peak productivity windows. (I have a whole Youtube video how to get more leads as a realtor mom to get you started!)
Then, you can save the lower-energy tasks—like responding to non-urgent emails or tidying your desk—for when your brain feels fried.
6. Leverage Real Estate Systems
This last time management for moms tip is a biggie. Too often, I find busy moms wasting time doing everything the hard way (because who has time to search for the latest and greatest thing??). With that being said, having strategic systems and processes in place can save you hours every week.
Here are a few basics you should have in place (at minimum) to get you started:
- A CRM (Customer Relationship Management system) to help you stay on top of leads, track follow-ups, make sure nothing client-related slips through the cracks.
- A project management system to track your to-do list (and no, the post-it notes on your desk don’t count)
- Templates for just about everything repeatable. Whether it’s email scripts for client outreach or checklists for listing prep, having ready-made templates lets you move faster and more consistently.
These three systems will become your secret weapon when it comes to time management for moms in real estate—just you wait!!
