Creative Tips for Writing Real Estate Holiday Cards Your Clients Will Love
12/10/2024
Is there anything better than getting something in the mail that’s not a bill or a bundle of flyers? Sending real estate holiday cards is a thoughtful (and FUN!) way to spread cheer and stay connected with your clients during the Christmas season.
Not only do holiday cards brighten your clients’ mailboxes, but they’re also an affordable and almost effortless marketing strategy—perfect for busy real estate agents balancing work and family life.
This simple yet impactful approach has been one of my favorite ways to stay top-of-mind with clients since I started my real estate business, so today, I’m going to share:
- Why sending real estate holiday cards is a simple yet effective marketing strategy
- Who exactly on you should be sending these cards to for max impact
- What you should write in your holiday cards (including some scripts to get you started!!)
Let’s jump in! 🎄
Why Send Real Estate Holiday Cards
Not only are holiday cards a cost-effective way to market your real estate business, but they also take very little effort to knock out in bunches!
As a mom and active realtor myself, I know us working mamas often don’t have much time to spare for more elaborate marketing efforts like full-blown events and fundraisers. So, this can be a great way to stay top of mind without needing to invest hours (or even leave your house!).
So WHY exactly are holiday cards so darn effective? Handwritten cards have a way of making their way to fridges, tables, and other areas that guests tend to see when they go for a visit—especially around the holidays.
What better way to come up in conversation than something like, “Wow, who sent this cute card? 😍”
Who Should Be On Your List For Real Estate Holiday Cards?
Now, let’s talk about who should be on your list to send your real estate holiday cards to. It’s a short answer—everyone!
Seriously, as someone who has grown their real estate business without ANY paid leads, I know firsthand that your network is everything. And what better way to nurture your network than with a heartfelt season’s greeting??
Here are a few people in particular you may want to consider sending a card to this holiday season:
- Past clients
- Current clients
- Members of your team
Not sure what to say in these cards? No worries—I’ve got scripts to help you!!! ⤵️
How to Write Holiday Cards for Your Real Estate Biz (+ Scripts)
While I the more you personalize your cards, the bigger impact they’ll have, I also understand the struggle of staring at a blank card (with your mind equally as blank on what to fill it with 🤣). So, I’ve put together some scripts to get you started.
What to Write for Past Clients
“Dear [Client’s Name],

Cheers to a bright and exciting New Year ahead!
Warmly,

P.S. If you know someone who could use my help buying or selling in the coming year, I’d be honored if you passed along my name. Referrals are the best gift of all!”

Creative Ways to Stand Out with Real Estate Holiday Cards
While sending real estate holiday cards is a great way to stay top of mind over the holidays, I know the *best* real estate agents are always looking for ways to do a little bit extra 😉
Here are just a few ideas to stand out that don’t require a ton of extra time or money:
- Have your kids help!
While everyone’s personal brand is a little different, I think most of the time your clients will know (and appreciate) that you’re also a busy mom with kids! Have your kids help decorate the cards, sign their names, or even include a sweet holiday photo of your fam. - Include a small gift.
You might not want to do this for everyone, but don’t forget to look to your network and see who might want to contribute! A local coffee shop (or moving company) might be willing to throw in a coupon. Or if you are on your own, something like a scratch ticket can be a great way to surprise and delight your people! - Add some subtle branding in.
While nobody wants real estate holiday cards that feel more like a billboard, having a stamp with your logo, a ribbon in your branding colors, or something else that makes it feel uniquely you is always a good idea!
The Gist
By sending thoughtful, authentic holiday cards, you’re not just strengthening your real estate business—you’re teaching your kids the value of gratitude and connection. That’s a win-win!
So grab a mug of hot cocoa, set aside some time after bedtime, and start spreading that holiday cheer. Your clients, your team, and even your family will thank you for it.
→ When should I send real estate holiday cards?
I like to send my real estate holiday cards about 3 weeks before the holiday break! This way you guarantee they arrive in time (and get a little extra fridge time).
→ Where should I buy real estate holiday cards?
I’m a big fan of supporting small businesses, so that would be my first choice! Look for a local card maker or even shop on Etsy.
